Featured Community of the Month

Readfield, ME...  Continued

Musco Lighting has helped make a wish come true for 15-year-old Ricky Gibson. Ricky, a sophomore football player for Maranacook Community High School in Readfield, ME was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor in September of 2008.

As a result, he was temporarily unable to speak and must rely upon a wheelchair for mobility. When approached by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ricky did not think of himself but instead thought of his team and his community. His wish was not to go on a trip or meet a celebrity. His wish was for his High school football team to have lights and bleachers at their stadium. This is where Musco got involved. Touched by Ricky’s wish, Musco donated a lighting system worth $100,000 to the high school. A local contractor, Island Lighting, donated the installation. Musco was able to start and finish the project in under a month. The school will held a ceremony Saturday, December 20, to officially turn on the lights and make Ricky’s wish come true. Thanks to the entire Musco team for making this happen!

Special Thanks

Thank you all for helping make Ricky's wish come true. I was at a loss for words in front of many at his fund raising event when he presented me with his game helmet with ‘Thank you for coming out and making my wish come true, Ricky Gibson’ written on it.

-Mike Berry, ME Sales Mentor

Why would we do what we did? Why would we build and deliver a lighting system in a week? A bunch of us cared! We demonstrated what the Musco culture is about to our Team members, to a little New England rural community wanting to do something special for a dying teenager whose wish was for others and to a larger community that caring about others is what counts. We can make a difference.

-Don Rhuda, NY Sales Mentor

Please extend my heartfelt thanks to 'the powers that be' for their generous donation of lights and poles for the Maranacook football field in Readfield, ME. Ricky Gibson is a classmate of my daughter's and everyone is overwhelmed with his selfless gift to his school. He's a remarkable young man. It's companies like yours that are enabling this wish of his to come true in record time. Thank you!
