Our members work year-round to increase recreational opportunities and promote a healthy lifestyle for Maine citizens of all ages. We do this by supporting the professionals who deliver Maine's public park and recreation programs, and by serving as a statewide voice for access to public recreation and open space. August 27, 2010 Registration deadline for MRPA/Bill Bonnyman Memorial Golf Tournament is September 17th
The 7th Annual Bill Bonnyman/MRPA Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Friday, September 24th at the Gorham Country Club. Registration is $75/person, which includes green fees, cart, 19th hole barbecue and cash bar and abundant giveaways and prizes! For more information visit our golf tourney web page.
Noted sports psychologist Darrell Burnett, Ph. D. to keynote MRPA Fall Workshop
Dr. Darrell Burnett, a nationally recognized clinical sports pyschologist and author of several books including Positive Coaching and It's Just a Game!, will be the keynote speaker at MRPA's 2010 Fall Workshop, October 21-22 in Presque Isle. Hershey Track & Field Championship Held July 6th in Bangor; results posted
MRPA is the Maine sponsor of the annual Hershey Track & Field games, a North American track and field competition for boys and girls ages 9 to 14, which culminates each year with a championship meet held in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Local competitions in June set the stage for the Maine state championships, held this past Tuesday July 6th in Bangor. Click here for complete results: Hershey's Track and Field Games
Junior Olympics Region I Championships Held June 25-27 in Brunswick
June 25-27 the Town of Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department and Bowdoin College hosted the 2010 Junior Olympic Championships for Region 1 (Northeast U.S.). Pictured above is U.S. Olympic Champion Richard "Dick" Fosbury, winner of the Gold Medal in the High Jump in 1968 and inventor of the famous "Fosbury Flop," Dick was on hand for the meet and gave a talk to the athletes and parents on Saturday night. MRPA sponsors Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition - Waldoboro youth wins June 10 Team Championship at Fenway Park
Sunshine and friendly competition highlighted the 2010 PHR Maine Sectional Championships held Saturday, May 22nd at Freeport High School. Brett Collamore of Waldoboro qualified to compete at the June 10th Team Championship at Fenway Park and took first place! For complete results and more photos, click here.
