The Maine Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) is a statewide membership organization working to advance the park and recreation field in Maine. We are guided by our core belief that quality park systems and recreation programs are vital components of a healthy community. Our members are community leaders and volunteers, recreation department decision-makers, programmers, students, and businesses, who contribute to the quality of life in our state. There are many benefits to being a member of the Maine Recreation and Park Association. They include: Professional development, resources, association programs, scholarships and grants.
An MRPA Membership provides the following benefits: leadership opportunities, advocacy, job opportunities and postings, access to informational website and shared resources, communications and updates, inclusion in the member directory, mentorship program, educational opportunities such as the Annual Conference, Fall Workshop and Parks Playground Safety and Maintenance Courses, networking opportunities through our regional groups, access to statewide programs, and voting opportunities in the annual election
Agency Membership: ($200) Group membership for a maximum of five employees and/or board members associated with one agency. Additional membership may be included with any Agency Membership at an additional fee of $20 per employee.
Professional Membership: ($60) persons employed full-time in an administrative or staff position in governmental, institutional, or other leisure/recreational/park related organization.
Associate Membership: ($45) all persons employed part-time or seasonally in a recreation, therapeutic, or park related field.
Friends Membership: ($10) Park and Conservation Commissions, individuals (including non-recreation students), or group affiliates not in the leisure field.
Citizen Board Membership: ($10) individuals serving as volunteer members on park and/or recreation boards, Commissions, or Committees.
Commercial Membership: ($150) includes two employees of businesses and/or organizations that provide services and/or products to the park and recreation field. Additional employees may be included with any Commercial Membership at an additional fee of $15 per person.
Student Membership: (free) any student enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate curriculum in recreation, park or leisure studies at a college or university.
Honorary Membership: Honorary Membership shall be voted by the Board of Directors initially; such members shall retain membership until the Board rescinds such membership. This membership is granted to dignitaries, elected officials, and others who have contributed to the enhancement of MRPA and/or parks and recreation in the State of Maine.
University/College & Student Membership: (free)
Retired Professional: ($10) any person who has retired from a professional position in the park, recreation and leisure service field.
